Welcome to the World of AFS Volunteering!
WITHOUT VOLUNTEERS, AFS WOULDN’T EXIST…YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Helping to bring the people of the world together is exciting, interesting, and rewarding work. For more than 50 years AFS Volunteers have been building bridges of intercultural understanding and changing the way the world works.
AFS, as a truly volunteer-based organization, has always had a strong commitment to more than 30,000 volunteers worldwide.
Our global partnership enables more than 11,000 students to benefit from an AFS international educational exchange experience every year.
What is Volunteering?
To volunteer means to offer your time and skills without getting any money for it. When you volunteer, you contribute your efforts to a larger cause. Free time is free because we are asking you to donate part of it to us.
Why should you volunteer for AFS?
Get involved in AFS as a volunteer and you will:
· make international contacts
· be involved in changing lives
· have fun
· discover new cultures
· create new friendships
· receive quality training
· get involved in your chapter
There are many ways you can help AFS with your volunteer time!
How can you make a difference?
Volunteers work together to build AFS Interculture South Africa. Each Volunteer’s character is different and unique, but their similarities lie in their activities.
There are so many ways in which a volunteer member can contribute to AFS. You could:
· Recruit and select young people to be exchange students
· Recruit and prepare host families
· Provide support to teenagers and adults from around the world
· Liaise with schools
· Organize social activities and fun-days
· Fundraise
· Introduce students to the South Africa you know
· and much more…
We are always looking for new, energetic people all around the country who would like to get involved with AFS as a volunteer!
