The United States Mission to Mozambique, in participation with AFS, is currently recruiting for the Kennedy Lugar YES scholarship.
AFS Interculture South Africa offers the unique chance to spend ten months on the best cultural experience of your life! You will be living with a carefully selected host family and going to a local high school. Our host families live in all corners of America, mostly in small towns or villages and they look forward to opening their hearts and homes to welcome you.

Duration : 10 Months
Date : August 2022 – June 2023
Cost : Full Scholarship Sponsored by the Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Programme and the Department of State.

You are eligible if:
➢ You are a Mozambican citizen.
➢ You are currently living in Beira, Manica, Maputo City and Province, Nampula, Tete or Pemba.
➢ You are aged between 15-17 years old (Born between January 15, 2005 and August 15, 2007).
➢ You are attending 9th, 10th or 11th grade of the National Education System.
➢ You have NOT failed in the last 3 years and no final grade below 10 Marks; and
➢ You have an annual average not below 12 Marks.
➢ You must be able to speak and understand English.
➢ You are able to complete the preliminary application and send it to AFS Interculture SA at the email below.
➢ You are eligible to hold a passport and have access to your unabridged birth certificate.
➢ You must be open-minded, flexible and independent.
➢ You must be able to attend a selection day at your own expense at one of the above-named centres (at venues still to be confirmed due to covid-19 restrictions and regulations).
➢ Shortlisted students will need to produce their vaccination card and pay for further immunisations as required.
